I owned a Apple Watch S6 and the battery was “all-day” until I upgraded it to 8.5. I get up in the morning at 7am with the battery fully charged and under light use (not opening alot of apps and less than 20min workout), the watch battery got to 10percent at 6pm. I tried many settings like turning background app refresh and Wake Screen on Wrist Raise off and use as little wifi as I can ( I don’t own the cellular version).
I don’t know if everyone else have the same problem

I mentioned this in another thread, but I went from 50% to 10% in less than three hours today. I've never had this happen prior. (Series 4, WatchOS 8.5, 83% battery health) This could just be a coincidence with the age of my device, but it's hard to know for sure.

Was previously getting ~24 hours with my 44mm S7 with regular usage (no workouts, just checking notifications and the occasional texting) but now I’m lucky to break 15 hours.

Hand washing reminder and counter was battery drainer for me on previous release on S7.
Have you checked it?

if anything my battery life is slightly improved after 8.5 ... previously ~25% and now ~30% at the end of my day

Battery life is shorter now on my Hermes S7. Used to last a whole day. Now, I feel like I have to charge after 15 hours.

And I turn off many features because I don’t use them so battery shouldn’t drain like this.
