Hey guys... I'm a little depressed and a little happy.

I'll start with why I'm depressed. I just got off work a few hours ago, I work the midnight shift at a casino and get home at around 8am. Upon arrival I immediately noticed my bedroom window open. As I walked around to my back door, I see that it is wide open. I instantly put 2 and 2 together, I got robbed. They took my HDTV and my less than two week old PS3. That's it, that's all they took.

The good news... My 24" alu iMac was less than 5 feet away from the PS3 and tv, and they didn't even touch it. Even the tilt on my monitor was the same. Dumb robbers? Lucky me.

I'm really beginning to think that its someone I know, they knew the layout of my house. I wish they'd come back so I can break their face, but its most likely not gonna happen. I'm just glad my handicapped father is safe and I still have my iMac.

Sorry to hear that. What an awful feeling that must be to know someone just came in and stole your possessions.

At least your house insurance will cover those two items.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad your father is okay though. I've been through that before as well and it stayed with me for a while. It just didn't feel like home for a few months.

What do you expect living in Detroit?

Who wants an all-in-one computer anyway? Those robers are smart. If it had been a Mac tower they would have taken it.

As compassionate as he is literate. :p

To the OP sorry I feel your pain. Low-life thieves really make this world suck. I hope you somehow get your stuff back and am glad your Dad and the iMac are safe and sound.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Not sure how I'd cope if someone stole my possessions. Glad to hear that the PS3 and HDTV is all they took, though =/...

Thought they might have just grabbed the things they thought had the quickest resale path, don't be surprised if they didn't make a mental note of the stuff they left - maybe they didn't have the time or manpower to grab it at that moment.

I have been burgled multiple times - expect a repeat attempt if they are desperate enough, do everything you can to secure and deter. Sorry to hear what happened and hope you'll be ok.

Scum, that's what they are.

You work hard at a job you may hate to buy the things you want, then some low life scum want's to take it from you.

Same thing happened to me a few weeks back, they took a few things, laptops, wii etc but didn't even touch my 24" iMac.

I to thought/think its someone that I know.

I got robbed about six or seven years ago. They took a (broken) hi-fi, a Nintendo 64 and a mountain bike among other things, but I felt lucky because they left the computer and all my financial papers, etc. and the only damage was to a downstairs window. Burglary is never a nice thing to have happen to you, but it gets messy when they get hold of personal data and feels more personal if they commit wanton damage to your property. Living room equipment is easy to replace if you're insured, but still the sense of security is shaken for a long time especially if there are other people you look out for in the house. I feel sorry for anyone that goes through it. Remember it is usually opportunists looking for easy money, not people who have been watching you and know your moves or have any bad feelings for you.

It sucks to have your house violated, and your possessions stolen.

Thank god your family member is OK.

Nothing you own is more valuable then the people who live with you! :D

We had a break-in here 2 years ago. Guy broke in by busting out a basement window. He took nothing with him as he ran, but he left a little skin and a grin on my dogs face.

Our dog got hold of him. Police caught up with him at a local hospital. According to the police my dog did not bark, he just bit the guy as he entered the basement.

I guess my dog doesn't believe in 'warning barks'.:eek::eek:

YES!!! i am also curious what kind of dog you have... and to the OP really sorry, make sure you do everything you can to stop a reoccurrence, maybe a pit-bull or two?

When I was younger I had a Boxer, more recently an Alsatian. No longer with us :( If I wasn't living at University I'd have an Akita or Lab now, I think. I'd LOVE a daschund and / or a min-pin too (not for security obviously :p) but they're girly accessory dogs. I want one I can go running and such with :)

Sorry to hear about your brake in. Thats not very good. Maybe they knew about the MAC security features or so. Its Just lucky that you didn't lose your IMAC.

Gotta love your :apple:
