Hi,

I recently used bootcamp to petition my hard drive to have 32 gig for windows. When going to install windows it asked me which petition to install it on however the peition it gave me was not the one i made with bootcamp so i canceled the installation. Now when i start my macpro up it doesnt even go into the OS system it just comes up a blank screen with a white flashing line up the top in the left hand corner like dos. Now I figure its trying to load into windows however i never isntalled it but i cant get into the OS system even when I hold down the option key. Any suggestions to how i can.?

It's partition, not petition. Sorry to hear you are having problems. Are you sure you're holding down option long enough? That usually allows people with this problem to successfully boot into OS X. You could try using the OS X dvd to boot.

well this is the issue because when I hold down the option key it does work, but it only says windows is on my system, however i never actaully installed it, but OS isnt there it just says windows.

I would try booting from OS X media and using disk utility to see if it sees the 2 partitions correctly.

May Have?

I think he has. I was reading up on some issues relating to BootCamp and problems while installing windows through it and I came across such a problem. It surely is a case of missing OS X. I don't know if you can get your data back, but OS is gone.:(

I'm so worried, there is so much stuff on the computer. I went to put XP upgrade on and canceled it and I could still get into OS but once I canceled the professional version I couldn't get back into it. My issue here is that I didn't even install XP I canceled out before installing so how could I have overwritten anything? Is it possible that I have just covered up the computers way of determining if OS is on there but it still be there. Im going to use disk warrior when I get my hands on it, apparently it recovers petitions. Is this my best bet? Is it also possible to get someone to go deep into the files of the hard drive to recover my data. I have so much client work on the computer, family photos, and a heap of music. I was insanely stupid in not doing a backup. I didn't think Bootcamp would have such an issue.
