well, sort of. it had two stuck pixels right next to each other which was an eye-sore. i didn't notice it until today when i got home from work and started messing around with it. i only got to play with it for about 20 minutes last night after i opened it.

anyways, i take it back to the apple store and tell them it appears to have some type of dust behind the screen and i can't get rid of it. they inform me this is a stuck pixel. they also said, "we can't replace your new machine outright." i said, "well, i'm not leaving this store until i am happy. i want you guys to make me happy." the genuis goes to the back of the store where they keep all the new computers for a minute. he comes back out and says, "you know what? we are just going to replace it." lol! :)

at that point, i tell him, "that's great! i knew you could make me happy. you guys rock!" and then i told him i wanted to upgrade to the 2.4 model. he says no problem. i paid the extra $500 and before i left, i asked to speak to the manager. the manager comes out and i tell him, "[name of employee] provided exceptional customer service and i am very pleased to say that i feel very happy with the outcome of this situation. thank you both of you." i shook his hand and went on my way.

point of this story: even with a dead pixel, you can get apple to replace it. some people will never notice a dead pixel. some people don't care. the people who do are the ones who deserve to get a replacement because if they don't, they will never be satisified. that's what a good company is all about; satisfying their customers.

and no, my new 2.4 does not have any dead pixels! w00000t! :p

congradulations!

I wish things like this can always happen at the apple store.

nice, now I am scared because I plan to order a BTO machine, hopefully no dead pixels.

My brand new C2D 2.16 machine has a dead pixel I just found it today. You can only see it when you look for it and you have to be right up close to it so I do not worry about it one bit. :D
