^^^^Wait for what❓ Point updates fix issues and clear up problems. 10.15.6 is pretty stable. The Supplemental Update fixes more issues? You are now four updates behind?
I am currently running the Big Sur Beta, but if anything goes wrong I have two more internal SSDs running Catalina that I can return to if necessary. All my apps are on other drives.

Heh. I'm still on Mojave on my main machine. (Some software didn't play nice initially with Catalina.)
I'd first check the logfiles for Firefox-related errors. Then a Google search for known issues with the specific browser-version you are running might yield some results.
By default FF updates itself automatically, perhaps you got a bad update? They are not beyond releasing some buggy stuff once in a while. There's also the possibility that an installed addon causes this behaviour.
Perhaps try a separate vanilla-install of a different FF version for testing with a fresh user profile (no addons).

Not necessarily. 10.15.4 broke some apps and drivers.

Normally I’m two OSes back. I upgrade when I have to. I bought the new MP so I had to jump to Catalina. I only moved my two 5,1 MPs when I had to. Upgrading boot drive. SSD PCIe. I had to go to Sierra to HS. A lot of problems. But them it was easier to transition to Catalina.
In the middle of some big projects - and fear unforeseen issues with updating to Big Sur. Will wait several months for the public version to be released and then wait some more after that to update.
^^^^Yes you guys, I completely understand. As I posted above, that is precisely why I have discs and backup discs with more than one OS. Right now I'm on the Big Sur Beta 5 just issued. My two Catalina discs are waiting should I run into any issue.
Updating an OS doesn't have to be final with no way to return, nor should it be. BackUps will protect you and your work.

I have everything backed up in multiple. It’s a royal pain to go back to previous OS. It sucks time out of my day. I’d rather not. That’s why I wait until I really have to. And I still have my Mojave, HS boot drives. But rarely go back except to pull hinge off. It’s a PITA.
I'm tracking your thought pattern. Whenever there's a problem reported with an update, those incidents stick out like sore thumbs. It's human behavior to focus on those reports and not the millions of "no problems here" which are not reported. I've moved away from that model and now only delay OS updates (Catalina). The primary reason I held off Catalina was to make sure that specific software worked properly. I'm sure you'll find an answer on this forum as there are some frick'n geniuses here.
Yeah. LOL. There are! I run a home recording studio. When an update cripples software it has left me dead in the water on more than a few occasions. If it all works, I'm not at ALL interested in updating.
I am on the latest version of Catalina. I am still having random restarts with mostly Adobe apps (as mentioned elsewhere), but yesterday had my first crash in a browser (latest Safari). I was scrolling a page on this forum when the external speakers started making a rhythmic hissing sound for about 15 seconds as the screen froze, followed by a crash and restart. First time I had this happen with the "sound-symptom" added and no Adobe apps were open.
I updated to 10.15.6 and it still randomly quits Firefox. I also had a kernel panic a couple of days ago right before an important session - the same day I updated the OS. And I haven't had a KP in many, many months. Maybe a year.
