Cell service disappeared 2 days ago. Forced to upgrade to newest os on iPhone 7. BECAUSE I received a message that I HAD to do this get cellular back. OK. Loaded it. still no CELLULAR. called Verizon, they had me reset Network settings. Cool. Got cellular service back for a half a day. Then it went out and couldn't even see anything in SETTINGS on the cellular tab now. And NETWORK tab said "unavailable". Had to use someone else PHONE TO CALL apple after spending an hour CHATTING with them on my computer. Because it's not under warranty they won't send out a new one. I live a 5 hour drive from an Apple store. Im going into best by at 6:00 PM so they can tell me that they can't fix it and I have to send it in to check the HARDWARE. I read on FORBES this morning that Apple is trying to get a new os out in a few weeks to fix this. No PHONE for 2 weeks? Really APPLE?

The question is who wants to go into a class action lawsuit against Apple for this?

I understand friend, but class action is only for spite, not profit. It takes a lot of work and you don't get anything out of it. Good luck though.

I just want a phone that is not held captive. Not after money. And I disagree that it is only for spite. It has to do with the people's rights to protest. More voices send a louder message. Thanks!

Why would anyone want to go into a class action lawsuit for one person? What are you doing here, venting, asking for help or trying to get people to join your CAL?

all 3 and more. Putting it out there. Guess your phone is working. Forbes reported this morning that Apple is working on it. I don't know about you but I have people out there that think something must be serious wrong on my end because I am not answering phone calls or texts. Think about it from the 10,000's of iphone 7 users that ave no cell service. Its crippling.

But you're the only person on here that I have seen who has mentioned it here. Don't get me wrong, I know how frustrating it is when Apple continually screw up there already crap software - lets be honest, they are experts at it!!! But you arent going to get the sort of help you really need here, nor anyone to buy into your CAL.

I hope you get your problem sorted though, honestly! Good luck!

dear stumpy, the lack of posts isn't the decisive monitor. Why would Forbes spotlight it if it's not a universal problem. Thanks though

Because, quite simply, it is not a universal problem. I know five people with old iPhones including 7s and not one of them has this problem.

Remember... There are a certain number of iPhone 7 models that are affected by a component failure in the logic board, which causes very similar if not exact issues to what you're describing. Check it out: https://support.apple.com/iphone-7-no-service. I have a (now spare) iPhone 7 that is affected by this component failure. Apple confirmed I was affected by the issue, after running diagnostics on my phone, but said they can't do anything about it, as it's now long past the repair timeframe. I'm out of an iPhone 7, but I only paid $100-ish for it a few years ago. I got my use out of it. 🤷‍♂️

thank you for that, but like alot of failures, the syncrinicity is supscious

The iPhone 7 is a time bomb and yours just exploded. It's a known problem and since the phone is old - you're SOL. That's the harsh reality of it. The only answer to your problem is buy another newer iPhone or some Android phone.
Stuff breaks.

I don't think the ISSUE is anything that YOU are doing or your COMMUNICATION because it seems CLEAR that you are a POWER USER who communicates VERY CLEARLY. It must be APPLE. I will join your CLASS ACTION with my iPhone 3GS and we will ACCOMPLISH so much

THREE: after talking to the supervisor of a supervisor, she found with the same diagnostic that her underling used last night and found out that indeed it is the above problem, which I let her know that someone on the forum who didn't get cocky, or aggressive or insolant actually gave me real information. Thanks again! BTW it was most likely triggered by the update...:)

nice. Some people don't upgrade to the newest coolest most expensivest even though they have a perfectly good phone, or might not be able to afford it or don't believe in built in obsolescence. I have had apple products since the 80's and believe they should work until the wheels fall off. And these wheels are fine. good day to your sir.

just making sure you're aware of how warranties work given you weren't happy that apple wouldn't ship you a new device for free when your 5 year old device stopped working

I think if the wheels were fine you wouldn't have made this thread
really? Thanks for your unique knowledge. But FY all knowingness, they are remedying it in a proffessional way, and that's all you need to know

What's your ultimate goal by working with Apple? Are you expecting them to send you a new device? Are you expecting them to expedite this magical software update? What if the software update isn't the issue and it's the well known hardware failure? What would you do if that's the case?
