i thought M4 Pro was capable of 4.4GHz? unless i read wrongly. because that's far less than M3's clock speed... [unless again i read that wrongly]

ah that explains perfectly well thanks!!, either way still going to aim M4 series anyway; it is an actual improvement over m3

Geekbench is alright but Cinebench 2024 or Blender are the real tests for stress testing CPUs and a computer's cooling system. That's where a Ryzen 9950X with water cooling is a little faster than an M4 Max in multicore tests, although you can't cram that 170w CPU into a laptop. In Geekbench it seems like it is miles behind.
