For a couple of days, my computer has been randomly opening iTunes without me clicking the icon in the dock. I then close it and it opens it again, sometimes just moments after I close it. What is going on?

Also, How do I completely remove programs? Do I just need to drag the icon into the bin?

Thanks

$20 says that you're using the iTunes Dashboard widget. It doesn't always play nicely, but I think if you upgrade your OS to the latest version it should fix itself.

Edit: didn't see the second question. Yes, just dragging the Application (not program) to the Trash (not recycling bin) will get rid of almost everything related to that app. If you want to be super thorough (but lose your prefs if you ever reinstall the app), do a spotlight search for its name and delete the files that come up. :)

Deleting the iTunes Dashboard widget should cure your iTunes problem.

In general, simply dragging the application from your Applications folder to the Trash is good enough for deleting them. It will leave a few small preference files elsewhere on your system, but they're no big deal. If you're paranoid, you can either do a Spotlight search for those files or use a program like AppZapper to get rid of them. If the application came with an uninstaller, you probably would want to use that.

Thanks for the help. I did have the iTunes widget and when I opened dashboard it was displaying a song even though there wasn't one playing, so hopefully this is the root of my problem!
