After years of a love-hate relationship with Apple products and operating systems since well before System 7, I've finally made the switch from the bleak PC world to the beauty of Apple. This isn't just any switch; I'm not merely using both platforms in conjunction. It's a complete computing lifestyle switch, devoid of PCs (at least any that I own), complete with Apple products that work harmoniously, like my "new" 2nd generation 10gb iPod.

This Saturday, I'm trading my Pentium4 3.0GHz (w/ Hyperthreading) laptop for a Dual 2.0ghz G5 tower. I was first exposed to the wonders of OS X and G5 finesse at my college newspaper, where last year, we purchased two new 1.8GHz dualies to replace some old G4s in production and graphics work. They were incredible, both in aesthetic style and productivity!

I kicked myself for buying this PC laptop back in January '05, but I needed something quick and something portable. But not anymore, I'm now free to make the choices I want and that choice has been made.

congrats, you should love it. but im sure you already know this from your experience. let us know if you have any questions, this is a great forum!

Trading....?

Who's the unlucky one?

But, congrats! :p

Haha, I'll do a repost of something I wrote elsewhere:

"Yeah, this deal will be as legit as it gets unless the man decides to rob me at gunpoint when we meet up to swap :p

He's local in my town and has proven he works at a reputable business, so there's no worries about shipping or anything like that. We're meeting Saturday to do this, and best of all he just said he'd throw in a wireless keyboard and mouse, since he had no use for it with my laptop! Plus, it's the old Dual 2.0ghz with the 8 RAM slots and PCI-X.

I was completely level with him on what I paid and the approximate worth of my notebook and he with me on his PowerMac. I even showed him completed eBay auctions of my laptop (one being $850, another $999). He understood I'm getting the better end of the deal, but apparently my machine is EXACTLY what he needs for his business, and he is unable to accomplish his goals with the Mac. On top of that, he told me he merely couldn't get used to the Mac, as he used Windows all his life. As bad as I feel for getting such a damn good deal, there truly was no impropriety (that is, unless you fault me for not insisting on giving him more money, but I'm a poor college student :( )"
