So my Dad woke up this morning with his phone having NO songs on it at all. Poof!

He has an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I have an iPhone Xs. Both are running latest iOS. Both have had Apple Music for years under Family Sharing.

My phone and iPad were both spared.

My instinct was to call Apple, or rather, get them to call me. They did.

We went through a ton of options and troubleshooting between both of our phones and Apple IDs, with multiple Tiers of support and they said in the end for my Dad "Don't worry about the subscription not showing up, you're fine."

I checked my dad's iPad 3 and it was asking about Apple Music. I signed him in to Music which appeared to have worked. I just hope I didn't sign him up for a free trial.

My Dad's Mac mini (the last one released before Apple Silicon) showed no subscriptions at all on file for his Apple ID.

What can we do? Were they wrong?

As a short update to this, I just got an email from Apple that they were trying to call me but "there's no answer."

This may be because my Cellular carrier is blocking calls from certain countries who are spam calling customers. I don't know which ones.

Make sure you've got Settings --> iCloud --> ("Shared with Your Family" - Apple Music) is showing. Also make sure you have him set as an Adult or Parent/Guardian.

The only time this happened to me was when I let Apple Music expire for <1 hour and poof, lost all my downloaded music on all my devices.

For others - they have the option of going with their own subscriptions or using the family subscriptions. I've had friends who had a difficult time getting their family subscriptions set up - they had to play around with the settings and accept the family subscriptions. <shrug>.

Hope it comes back.

It shows that Apple Music is being shared and my Dad is set up as an Adult in Family Sharing.
