I'm trying to hook my MacBook Pro up to an external monitor using its included DVI to VGA adapter. My external display has a "VGA-in" slot, but the VGA end of the Mac adapter doesn't fit into it. Any help would be appreciated. I didn't know what was supposed to be a five-minute project could be so complicated.

When you say ""VGA-in" slot", do you mean a female VGA conector?

If thats the case, your going to need a male to male cable in the middle. You can't plug a female connector into a female connector.

quick question, how would you have managed with just the adapter plugged directly into the monitor if it did fit???

that would be the most akward thing ever....
