My most intensive intended use is Photoshop; would there be any compelling reason to go with the 2.8 i7 model as opposed to the 3.20 Ghz? Thanks for any suggestions.

If you have the $ for i7, go ahead. I would even look at refurbs to save some $ and get technically as fast as new.

The current 27'' i3 (2010) is the same price as the 2.8 i7 (2009) @ $1699US

It is a no brainer go for the refurb i7.

Thanks! !

Thanks for all your replies; and the HellHammer for the speed chart. My i7 (refurb) arrives tomorrow. To chew up Photoshop files with an easy laugh.:)

great choice. Its stupid quick compared to my C2D 2.4 MBP

I scored 9989 on geekbench 2.1 which is higher than the 8237 posted on their list and faster than a 2008 2.8 8 core

I know real life is different to benchmarks but none the less for £1399 :D:D:D
