Hey, guys. I have a Mac Pro 4,1 (flashed) with a GeForce GTX680 2GB video card and an LG 34UM95 display. I've had this setup for over 2 years now. Today I was doing some work and then went to the kitchen to make some tea. When I came back the display was asleep, but when I moved the mouse, the right half of the screen was all scrambled and there was some artifact on the left side of the screen, though the left was still usable. I put the Mac to sleep and then woke it up, and the display just showed "out of range". So I forced a shut down and then rebooted, and it went back to the right side of the screen being scrambled. I shut down again thinking, damn, I hope the video card didn't die. I tried to boot up in safe mode in case it was a driver problem, but I just got the "out of range" message again. So now, I go and get an HDMI cable, disconnect the DisplayPort cable, and hook up the monitor by HDMI, and it looks fine. If I try to switch back, the right side of the screen is scrambled. There are no updates from NVIDIA. Does anyone know if this just a partial failure of my video card or could it be that the cable went bad? Thanks for your help! Damn it, I'm a doctor, not a computer engineer!
[doublepost=1522535447][/doublepost]The only real advantage of the DisplayPort as far as I can tell is that I can only run at 50Hz with HDMI, and I was running at 60Hz with the DisplayPort, but I'm not a gamer or anything so it probably don't matter practically speaking.
