Not sure if the correct forum but hopfuly someone can answer. I have a special premium Hotmail account that has my name as the address (XXX@johndoe.com) and domain. MS offered these a few years ago and I don't think it was too successful. I now pay a company in Australia Melbourne IT but my mail still goes to Hotmail. Could I get a .Mac account (or whatever is changed next week) and have my mail go there (keeping my name) and then have it download to Mail. Also having my domain (johndoe.com) to make my own web site?

I don't fully understand your question, but to me it looks like you want to move your domain to a different hosting company for some reason; most offer to take care of the transfer for you (contacting MS on your behalf to move the domain). You should then look for a hosting company who offers mail accounts; you can then simply instruct Mail to pop the mail off of your hosting company's mail server.
I don't think you need a .Mac account for any of this.

I want to have my Hotmail (my name domain) changed to POP3 so I can get it downloaded directly to my Mail program and not use MS Hotmail (push mail is no longer working). Can I switch my domain over to Gmail? Also is the a site where I can get some 101 info on the process involved? Which form is the question applicable?
Well, it won't require programming and it's not Mac specific, so a "Mac Programming" forum seems your worst choice
What would be easiest is to buy your local friendly computer geek a beer and explain your situation to him. He will have a "favorite" hosting company (because he knows someone who owns one) and can help you move the domain over.
