My Dual 1.25 G4 Is Now Very Slow

gonna need a little more info...
how about a full terminal top shot, so we can see the amount of memory, the processes that are running and all that good stuff.
when did this start happening? have you checked your energy settings to make sure your processors are running at "highest" and not reduced or automatic?
install anything lately that corresponds to the slowness starting?
i am not sure about the negative memory thing...but i am sure someone here has some input

Open activity viewer and see what processes are running, how many threads and what CPU %.
Also what amount of RAM and OS version are you using, typically with each major update (like 10.2-10.3) requires a slight bit more of RAM to run smoothly. OSX loves to cache stuff, so if your HD is full or hasnt been "cleaned or defragged etc, if you think it needs to" in a while, that could be a problem too.

seems like it might be a disk issue - things were getting a bit warm
and the core temp is pegged at 149° - so there might be hardware issues as well.

I'm assuming it's been rebooted and you still have the problem?
I'd also not rule out that it's feeling a little jealous that you've been drooling over Apple's new Dual dual-core G5's at the website. Clear your Safari cache and things might get better as well.
