Here's some specs compiled from the published Mac Pro specs and gathered from AMD's wikipedia pages... (see attached). My conclusions:

  • D300 core appears to be similar to the Pitcairn XT (7870/W7000) with different clocks (~800/~1250)
  • D500 core appears to be similar to the Tahiti LE/PRo with 7870XT core count and 7950 memory architecture and clocks (~800/~1250)
  • D700 core appears to be similar to the Tahiti XT (7970/W9000) with different core clocks (~850/~1375)

Anyone disagree or find any errors here?

Also:

There's a good review here at Tom's of these various GPUs running games.

Here's another good review of workstation cards at Toms for more compute oriented workloads.

EDIT: Updated notes above and the table below based on insights from 666sheep...

7950 with fewer cores is called 7870XT (Tahiti LE) and that's the core of D500.
Answer is hidden in the drivers, no guessing, just facts. Grab 7870XT and fire up GlView and Luxmark (in 10.9 ofc).

Thanks for pointing that out. I overlooked the 7870XT. At any rate it looks like the D500 shares a similar core count to the 7870XT with the memory bandwidth of the 7950 which should put it somewhere in-between performance wise.

Ps. I'll update the OP with this tomorrow.

I think MVC's thread is enough ;)
Only thing which isn't empirically confirmed is 7870 = D300.

Fair enough. However, that thread seemed focused on the D500 and I wanted to put something together that helped me compare all three GPUS easily. If this isn't of any value it will slide off the front page quickly.

ps. I updated the OP with the correct (as much as we know) facts.
