after convincing two of my friends to buy mac laptops (12" iBook and 12" PowerBook), i finally got the means to purchase my first mac. 2GHz 15" MacBook Pro. i've had it 3 days and i love it already. and from what i've read, i think i got a good one. doesn't get insanely hot and only has a very slight whine (i probably wouldn't hear it at all if i didn't have such sensitive hearing) when i hold it up to my ear and the power cord is connected.

now off to transfer my files from my huge ass gateway desktop...

Congratulations on your purchase!

I have had my MacBook Pro for over 14 days now and I absolutely love it.

Thinking about selling my desktop computer . . . a Pentium M (Dothan) @ 2.80Ghz. A respectable computer but I just find myself using this notebook more and more :)

After 20 years on the opposition team I have made the shift too! I have had a Macbook pro now for 1 week and am loving it! I had a friend telling me to do this for years but kept saying no.

When the Intel option came along I thought I could shift but keep one foot in both camps. Now I don't want to sully this baby with M$S$ software!

Lots of learning ahead of me, but it will be fun!!

I was the same way. I kept listening to the rumors (false ones at that) that Macs were inferior even though I owned an Apple IIc about 20 years ago and loved it (I actually had it for 10 years and sold it and it still worked great).

OS X is pretty easy to use once you navigate through the relatively painless learning curve. It is a far, far cry better than anything MS can come up with.

Welcome (both of you) to the Mac family!

When using a non intel mac restarting was a pain but with the macbook pro its takes like 20 secs.

I love mine too! My whine is only when it runs on battery...:p It's so slight it has to be dead silent for it to be heard. Mine keeps comfortably warm/cool. It's fantastic. How did I ever get along with a PC?
