My friend spilled Fresca on his MacBook

So my friend spilled his fresca on his macbook and didn't realize it for a while, and now it will only work when it's plugged into the wall. Does it sound like the battery is toast? Could it be something else? Any ideas?

not sure if applecare will help with that (if he has it). When I asked about applecare, the guy said "The worst thing you could do is spill liquid on your computer"


I have actually "washed" a laptop before after taking all the batteries out (even the small one). I basically opened it up and sprayed water all over the insides )) I let it dry for 5 days, powered it up, and it worked, but I wouldn't suggest that. The real issue with soda is the sticky residue can conduct current , which is why you need to get it all out.

At least, being Fresca, it is sugar-free. It could have been much worse.

Eeek, that might be trouble later. I remember pouring water on my PC notebook, it was only a tiny small bit, and it didn't seem to have any problems the first day.. then the next day the keyboard starts to mess up, randomly keys would press.. then half of the keyboard didn't work.

I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem or a driver problem (could be both) but it's very slow now, and seems to have video problems because of it (and this small amount was just on the keyboard)

The best suggestion I found was to turn it off and keep it off and just put it on it's side so the water drips out.
