Hey all, I posted in the Mac Help/Basics section with a poll on what I should turn my aging/failed iMac G3 into instead of replacing it. Somebody thought my personal idea of a CD Stacker and not a MacQuarium :)D) is a good idea so....

Step 1 Pictures:

This is outside the iMac - note my badly inscribed insignia "iMaCDholder TM" on the divider case. (Soon to be removed entirely :D)

This is inside the bottom of the iMac G3, without Logic Board 1, CD, HDD and Speakers.

Cheers!

P.S. This thread will continue to the end!!! :D

EDIT: I need to remove the CRT, don't have a discharge tool, and don't want to die, so I might just leave this until I find proper instructions on how to do it, or I go to a TV repair store and get them to do it.

If its been unplugged for more than a day then there isn't anything to worry about

On the moon.
How to make a discharge tool.

Let sit, take screwdriver with rubber handle, or wear rubber gloves.

Take screwdriver, take jumper cable, take machine outside and ram garden tool into ground, clip other end of cable to tool, or clip it to a grounding post inside your house.

Thats what I did when I gutted an iMac.

Cool, thanks for the info. I will post pictures on the weekend. (That's when I can work on it :D) Once I remove that wretched CRT, the project will become MUCH more interesting.

Cheers!

Project has been cancelled. I was told by a computer guy to wait months/years to touch the CRT or it will kill me. I believe him, so the project has been cancelled.

Thankyou for your interest and this maybe be continued in the future. (Big Maybe) :D

No balls anymore. I learned the hard way being a a curious kid whos always loved electronics. It hurts yes but now that ive learned i do it with rubber gloves and a rubber handled screw driver and im fine.
