My hp laserjet 1012 printer will not work!!!

I have tried everything...

Has Apple just dropped driver support completely for this printer under Yosemite? It worked fine under Mavericks...my other "new" HP Inkjet printer works under Yosemite, but I can't get my HP LaserJet 1012 to work!!! About a 10 year-old printer but still good and strong...now useless??

Open up the Printer panel in System Preferences, and right click or control-click in the panel where the printer is listed and choose the option to reset the printing system. Then add the printer back in.
I too am using a Laserjet 1012 and it's working fine.

Reset Doesn't Work

I'm having the same issues with the same printer. I searched the Yosemite forum for "Print" and this came up right away, funny it's the exact printer.

The printer used to work fine under Mavericks but has not printed on any Preview # of Yosemite. I can't recall if I did an "Upgrade" to Yosemite or a clean install, it was very late a few months back one night. I never allow myself to do an in-place upgrade on a beta but I may have this time.

Reseting the printer system doesn't fix it, nor does selecting to use a Generic Driver.

Yosemite keeps asking if I want to download new drivers for my Brother HL-5340D. Not sure of that is Apple or the OEM.

Hp 1012

I've had one of my 1012's for at least 16 years. I'd pay the cost of a new one to get them working again. Anyway, my HP 1012 worked fine with Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro. I upgraded and lost my printers.

My computer sees that the 1012 is connected. The printing window has a place where I can add a printer. I click that, and the 1012 shows up in the window. The utility asks me if I want to add that driver. Of course, I do. I do the proper selection. I go up into the window where I select what printer I want to use. The 1012 is there. My computer sees that it is plugged into the USB port. I select it, and try and print, but nothing happens. My computer sees the printer.
