My iMac 20" forgets it's network access! Help Please.

I don't know if this is common or an unusual property of macs since this iMac is my first Mac of any form. At least once a day, for no reason I can figure out, my airport connection forgets how to connect to my router. I have to go into network settings, assist me, and then eventually add my router's password again. I've told it to keep it in the keychain. I've told it NOT to keep it in the keychain. Doesn't seem to matter.

Anyone else had this problem and been able to solve it? No other device (Vista notebooks, iPod Touch, TIVO, Wi, etc,) using the same router has this problem. When it is working it works beautifully. I'll be visiting forums and suddenly one won't refresh. From that point on no browser or app that accesses the internet will work until I've reset everything.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you tried repairing disk permissions or resetting your PMU? Could be an Airport power issue, but that would be a bit uncommon. You could also try deleting your network from your System Prefs, restarting and then adding the network again.

usually if it disconnects u click on the signal thingy and u might have to click ur name urself happened to me once then fixed its self it u have a password on it save ur pw

Haha... umm What?

Anyway, yeah the SSID (wireless network) is being forgotten for some reason. In your network system prefs click airport and hit advanced. You should have your wireless network under the airport tab in the Preferred Network Box. If it isn't in there then you will want to hit the (+) button and put it in there. That way the iMac will always look for a specific network. If more troubles let me know.

My airport connection never goes away. I'll notice no internet, go into network settings, and see that the airport is connected except for internet and Local network. The top three lights are green. About 50% of the time when I go into advanced and have it diagnose it won't even be able to find/see my SSID. I can add it manually along with the password and get it working again, but it's a royal pain in the rear.
