my imac 2009 model cant show the dock

my imac is i7 8 gb ram 2009 i was turning it on and then it doesnt wanna show the dock and every thing i try to do there are just colored circle plz help

of course i am trying to reinstall mac osx and i got a time capsule thats is a fine solution isn´t it

Disk Utility

Open disk utility in the utilities folder and then do a permissions repair on the hard drive. If this does not work reboot the computer and boot from the OS install disk and do a permissions repair.
If this does not work just format and re install everything.
