hi there i am part excahging with my dads friend my mac mini for his sight model g5 imac. but have a few out standing questions. (1.9ghz 17" )

1. i want to use the migration assistant so that everything is the same on the new one as the old one but i cant as we are trading and posting them. so is there another way? i have a video ipod 30gb. i also have tons of apps that i want to transfer. is it as easy as drag and drop onto my ipod?

2. what is it like with surround sound hooked up?
3. is the screen quality good on this monitor?
4. overall opinion on this model

[update]

i have a superdrive and have used 40gb worth of harddrive.

How much data have you got stored on the mini?

Has the mini got a DVD writer?

You have a couple of options. Standard back up using DVDs for all your stuff, though your apps won't like this and would probably need a fresh install.

You could back up all your docs, photo's and stuff like that onto discs, format your ipod and carbon copy your hard drive to keep all your apps in tact, then do the same thing on your new iMac and put all your data back in.

None of it's ideal though and someone else may have a better suggestion. :)

Double cross your dad's friend and don't give him the mini! :p
Thats not recommended....
If you have a DVD writer your made in the shade. Just back up any important
files and apps that you don't the original CDs for. Then just wipe the hard drive.
