Recently my 2.0ghz C2D alum imac has been on the fritz. Normally I will get on it after school and bring up safari, itunes, and adium fairly quick without any lag, but for the past week or two its been sluggish just bringing up just one at a time. Sometimes when editing selected text in numbers the cursor will dissapear, or when using the scroll ball the cursor will dissapear until i move the mouse again. And its only happened about three times, but my dock will go clear but keep the reflections and stay that way until restart.

I ran the verify disk permissions and repair disk permissions things in the disk utility but it changed nothing. Ive cleared all downloads, all of the apps i downloaded when i was in the "omg! new computer phase," and everything from safari.

I havent a clue what could be causing this, and if anyone could help me out i would love it.

Oh, and I posted this thread about my temps https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/454794/, which have been noted in the past day or so at a max of 167 after an hour and a half of CS:S

Capacity: 232GB
Available: 192GB
Used: 39.64GB

So its not a matter of space

How about running the hard ware test and getting rid of some login items if you have, just check, cuz damn, login items slow down the computer terribly at startup.

Leave the itunes one though.

Would you mind explaining how to hard ware test the mac? And what are login items?

ahh, for hardware test, while booting up, hold down "D", then when you see the dark blue screen, choose "extended testing", and then choose start or test or whatever is there to make it go.

for login items, its system preferences>accounts>the login items tab, what is there?
