My iMac has lots of unwanted junk on my hd. Can I use onyx software to remove it

or What do you suggest?

Do you know for sure what this "unwanted junk" is? Or is there a chance, one of your next posts will be something like: "Help! My iMac isn't booting anymore. What can I do?" ?

OnyX does not remove software. If you have unwanted software, first, use the uninstaller that came with the software. If no uninstaller is available, you can use Appcleaner which is free and will remove most of the software that you no longer want.

Thx

One more vote for AppCleaner.

But be aware that you may not be able to remove certain Apple-installed apps...

If you go to the apple icon>about this mac>storage>manage you will see 'reduce clutter' and you should be able to see what you've got and what you can remove there.

AppCleaner is my favorite, but it sometimes misses things. For a complete cleanup best thing to do is a full disk wipe and reinstall, making the appropriate backups of course beforehand.
