Its a G5 iMac ihave been using for abt three years now. first i got the vertical stripes about two months ago and today when i tried to switch it on, it won't. I turned it off last night after use and when i tried this afternoon, it was hot and it does not turn on?
Is this the end of her life? has anyone face this before?
need help:confused:

You have tried all the stuff like resetting pram and such? Probably won't help, but it wouldn't hurt to try it.

When you start your mac, do you hear the chime? Cause when you do hear it, but you can't see anything it may be the graphics card that failed.

Firstly, reset the PRAM and all that.
Then power it up. Do you hear the HD spinning up, the chime and the fans going? If so but you can't see anything it could be something to do with the graphics or even the screen.

Lastly, try an external screen if possible.

Good Luck!:D

Mine did that a few years ago, went through power supply's like crazy. Finally got one that worked for about a year.... Then it was time for a new one.
Well, It's been about a year again, and it's dead again. I just want it on long enough to copy all my data to CD's.

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the input!

Its working again, (don't know how). i hope it won't go dead again and im desperately waiting to copy all the files to an external hard.

Is there anyway i can fix the vertical stripes. there are dozen of them now, like a rainbow. if i buy a new lcd, it'd be better to replace the mac itself. wouldn't you say?
