I reluctantly bring this to your attention – I have searched for solutions to the best of my meagre abilities and haven’t found it mentioned – sorry if it has been.

I’m on latest iOS 13 public beta.

From Tuesday onwards, one of my contacts all of a sudden couldn’t open iMessages from me. The app crashed on his device upon attempts to open my iMessages to him.

Tonight, the exact same problem occurs when sending iMessage to yet another contact.

They’re not on iOS 13 betas.

Only these two contacts (so far). And they only experience the problem when trying to read iMessages from me, not from anyone else. The app crashes when attempting to open a message from me, and when reopening, the iMessage I sent remains marked unread at their end, with the blue dot.

I turned off and then on all my iMessage devices. Turned off iMessage. Turned off and on devices. Turned on iMessage again. Turned off and on devices. Tried logging out of iMessage and in again.

Has this occurred to anyone else? Is it even a common bug that I should’ve picked up? Is there a fix?

Thanks for reading.

I haven’t Experienced this bug so my suggestion would be to file a bug report both from iOS 13 and from the devices that are crashing if you haven’t done so already, also try sending one of the messages as text rather than iMessage to see if that works successfully or clears the problem

It turned out – this is a bit embarrassing after having polluted the forum with this – it turned out that the solution was a simple update to the latest iOS 12 version on the recipients’ end.

Over and out, thanks for your continued patience …
