Fully patched up iPad, fully patched up itunes...the podcast I most frequently use on my iPad isn’t syncing a full 10 episodes like I’ve got it set to in iTunes.

I’d noticed it only had 7 episodes, then was down to 5, just synced and it’s back up to 7, instead of 10.

The only thing I could think is I’ve only got 32GB storage, so I have that setting on where iOS can delete programs itself in the background and leave the icons there, to free up space. It’s a lot easierfor me to do that than to try to micromanage my storage myself.

maybe that setting somehow affects synced podcasts too? But an extra 3 podcasts is only 150ish MB, and with that setting on, my iPad claims it has like 10ish GB free, sooooo anyone know what’s going on?

Syncing has long been a pain with iOS and iTunes, but this seems like a new one for me.
(Oh, and of course I’ve tried rebooting both the iPad, and iTunes, and windows that it’s running on for good measure...no change in its weird behavior)

I’m never sure where to stick posts...this sort of seems like it should goin the iOS section, though technically it’s an “app”, albeit built in, so I don’t know.

Err...wait a minute...I just realized it’s skipping syncing 3 podcasts that are the oldest unplayed. If those were syncing, it would be a full 10. Uuuuugh, just more frustrating weirdness with Apple’s syncing.

I don't have your problem, but I want to chime in with a different problem. I can't delete podcasts. Whenever I try to delete a podcast, they automatically appear in a minute or two. I assume it's my Mac, iPhone and iPad not playing ball with each other? And that a device that still has the podcast replaces the library on the device that is missing the podcast? Although I love to use first party apps, this is too annoying and I've switched to Overcast.

uuuugh, that sounds obnoxious. I’ve thankfully not had that happen, but have had all kinds of weird things over he years. The fact that iTunes no longer displays my podcasts in hr correct order is no big deal compared to some of the other problems they’ve introduced.

There IS no real alternative for me, which is the problem. No one else makes anything that lets me manage podcasts on a pc then sync them out to other devices. Windows Phone 8 at least used to support syncing with iTunes until Apple broke it, but that’s the closest anyone else has come to proper podcast suppoer

Let's just hope that the sync engineers were invited for the iOS 14 & macOS 11 work. I have hope that Podcasts will be better in the fall.

Ugh...for a brief while it was syncing 10, now it’s down to 4. Why? Who knows!

my iPhone frequently has most of myPodcasts disappear too, though at least they usually come back when I sync again.

I wish someone else would make a system that works like iTunes + iOS does for downloading storing and syncing podcasts, but unfortunately it’s one of a kind, so I’ve got to use it even though it’s buggy as hell.
