My iPad Pro Order

I just ordered (online Apple Store) an ipad Pro 12.9" Wifi 256gb. I first ordered it in Space Gray and after ordering ,noticed the black bezels. I much prefer the white bezels so I called Apple customer service and changed it to Silver.

Ok, in the first place I'm a worrier, that's just who I am. But you other folks that have ordered, on your Order Confirmation, does it say 12.9" iPad Pro 2? Cause mine just says iPad Pro and I'm worried I will get Generation 1 version. Especially since I had the Apple lady change the order online. I can call back with my question but that's a hassle to get thru, I thought I would ask others if any orders say 12.9 IPP 2. Or maybe someone knows if Apple always ships the latest released version?

No your fine the iPad Pro is simply called the iPad Pro now it won't be denoted with any extra number or such. You are fine.

Thanks for the quick response. How will I know that I am getting an updated one? True tone toggle on in the Display/Brightness setting?

It's Not possible to receive an iPad Pro 12.9 first generation, it's been completely discontinued as an option from their online store. (With the exception of the refurbished Store.)

However, what you can do, is when you receive the device, call Apple and provide them with the serial number off the new 12.9 iPad you received, and they will verify the make and model over the phone or live chat.

Just check the barcode and the model on the box? There is no need to open it...
 
Thanks so much to all, you have made me now look forward vs worry about my 12.9" IPP. But still, the Gen 1 12.9" didnt have Tru Tone display, if it shows in settings, its the Settings, then its the latest

I paid the extra $100 for the 256gb. I had not seen any announcement that the Gen 1 was lower priced. I know the refurbs are, if available but didnt know the new Gen 1 was cheaper.

Lol, I guess that's the easy thing with ordering either 64GB or 512GB. You know for sure you're getting the latest generation. :p

Since it's Apple, they'll most likely send you the correct model and if they don't, their customer service is excellent and you can probably do a swap in-store. If it had been Best Buy or something, there'd be more cause for worry.

You can check the model number on the back of the box for peace of mind when it arrives. It's also on the device under Settings "About".
 
If it has a flash on the rear camera it is the new 12.9 iPad Pro. The previous generation did not have one.
