The story is quite humerous... I just purchased a used macbook pro with a month of apple care on it... Yesterday the screen started flickering... So today i called so i could ship it in (nearest apple store is 1 hour away), and as soon as i got off the phone with the guy... my iphone 4 froze (for the first time). LOL... Im running iOs 5... and im not jailbroken.... is there a way to unfreeze it without putting it in DFU mode, or letting the battery die???? Thanks

Hold down the power and home button until it shuts off. Then power it back on.

That is not DFU mode, if you release the power button and continue to hold the home button when it shuts off, that will put it in DFU mode. The above is how to hard power it off.

Try pressing and holding the power button and the home button at the same time. Do not release until you see the Apple logo. They call this a 'hard reset.'

A friend of mine had a 3GS that wouldn't even turn on. I did this reset and it came back on. Then his phone showed low battery-apparently it needed to be charged.
