I bought a new 2009 SantaFe (yay!) and it interestingly came with a USB port near the dash. I plugged my iPhone in, but it wouldn't charge. I then turned the phone off and left it on, and it charged fully.

Why is this? Why can't it charge while on?

You might want to contact Hyundai about that one. They might have the best response.

Hyundais are great. :p

Any intelligent reasons why this may be happening?

I'm guessing that the amount of electricity coming through the USB port isn't enough to power the device and charge the battery at same time.

Hyundais are okay to look at.. but a POS for the most part. But then again, I HATE my Tiburon GT. Selling it ASAP.

Good luck with yours Santa Fe guy. :)

interesting...i just bought a 2008 santa fe and an iphone last week. mines midnight blue with a black 32 gig, whats yours?

OP: You should have just said "I got a new car etc etc etc" :)

I figured this thread would take the turn to people for or against Hyundai which is completely irrelevant to what OP is asking.

I would agree, its a function of the Hyundai. At least it will charge it, so
I wouldn't sell the car because of it.
