Ok I went to listen to my voicemail today and i couldnt hear anything at all...i turned speaker on and could hear it fine. Last night i downloaded the software update and put it on my iphone and then i put the earphones in and called someone...after that i didnt do anything else my phone charged overnight and i have not dropped it at all since. It worked fine before i downloaded the update or put the earphones in. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

nevermind i got it to work now i just put the headphones in and out a few times to try to clean out the socket and it worked
The issue does seem related to the iPhone head jack. The same thing happened to me. However after doing the same thing you did it was resolved.
I had the same problem, and am on my 2nd iPhone because of this problem, but the 2nd time I encountered it I tried this quick fix, and it remedied the problem.
I hope Apple addresses this problem soon though as I do know many people are returning their iPhones because of this.
