iPhone X My iPhone X battery is down to 97% health after a year.

Bought an iPhone X as a gift recently, that was on 90%. My XS is on 99% after 2 months, but that's another story.
After 8 months my X Battery was at 97%. My nearby Apple Authorised Service Provider (B2X Ansal Plaza) swapped it for a fresh battery for free.

To me That’s kind of...shocking
If it says “peak capacity” shouldn’t it be equally snappy no matter what battery percentage?

I’ve seen with other iPhones too, a fresh battery does result in a snappier experience. After my mom’s 7 got a fresh battery her iPhone was snappier in some stuff than my X at 97%.
Very interesting indeed! Mines at 99% but is working the same snappiness as far as I can tell. I hope there’s no slowdown yet.
As in battery usage differs from device to device and person to person, and something that is chemically based isn't going to necessarily get used up at the same exact rate in the same exact way?
True. But I believe I am hard on my battery and it’s still doing better than a lot of responses here. I wirelessly charge it all day while playing music, at the end of the day I wirelessly charge it and it’s usually down to 50-65%.
Really? Have you actually looked at the battery stats of other devices? My Samsung Note 3's OEM battery lost 40% of its capacity in less than 6 months. A replacement OEM Samsung battery lost 60% in less than half a year. Finally settled on an Anker battery which kept 90% of its charge a year later. My Dell XPS 15 bought black Friday THIS YEAR has lost over 11,000 mAh from design capacity since I've opened the laptop. I've been watching battery tech since my first laptop - Dell Latitude D830 where the Dell 65whr? battery refused to keep the laptop powered for more than 5 minutes after 1 year of usage.
Don't get me started on my HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Tablets, Chromebooks, HP laptops, and other devices I've used... Speaking of battery technology that SUCKS...
I'm a battery nut - I've read Isidor Buchmann's book 2-3 times and had the privilege of conversing with him a tiny bit via email (author of batteryuniversity.com and "Batteries in a Portable World - A Handbook on Rechargeable Batteries for Non-Engineers").
Apple's battery tech kinda sucks? Really? My iPhones have been within 5-6% of their design capacity after nearly 2 years and 250+ cycles of usage. My 2015 MacBook Air 13' was within 2% design capacity after 3 YEARS of DAILY usage.
Sorry, this really got me going. Apple's battery tech is a **HUGE** factor why I'm using Apple products today.

Agreed. Batteries are a chemistry. Reading them requires a lot of assumptions. That’s why I take weekly readings several times a week at full charge only. I pay attention to max capacity vs design capacity more than anything. A lot of my iPhones after sitting on the charger for awhile will drop to 95% while still reporting 100% to help battery longevity. Apple does a good job keeping batteries healthy near or at 100% charge. It’s the draining to 0% and being below 20% that has me more convinced of wear happening the most.
So then the battery tech from Apple doesn't suck it would seem going by your own experience.
Inconsistencies like that are part of reality essentially.
It seems like you're just fishing for a reason to find something to complain about Apple about. Your battery has been fine. Many others are echoing those same sentiments. But because there is some inconsistency in the batteries it "SUCKS".
