Hi, I bought my iPhone XR 2 years ago and now I experience some lags, especially while scrolling apps like reddit or turning on camera app. I have 88% of battery capacity, iOS 15.3.1 and mores less 20 gigabytes of free storage. I have done factory reset a couple of days ago but it didn’t improve the performance. What can I do? The only thing that comes to my mind is the replacement of battery since maybe it is not capable of handling more exhausting tasks.

I experienced the same thing on my 7+. Just my opinion and I don’t know so don’t listen to it. Anyway I think it happens due to updating the IOS. You reach a point where either the phone capabilities just can’t run the “new and improved “ or maybe it’s in apples best interest to force people to upgrade and maybe there is some intent there. I say stop updating until new apps you may want just won’t work anymore. Then maybe an upgrade would be forced but I would think it would be awhile before that would happen. All these updates seem a little hokey to me anyway. When I took my 7+ out of the box that version of IOS was “secure” and ran fine. Do I really need their every cpl months BS “new and improved “? I begin to question that.

My personal rule of thumb and experience is never to upgrade my iPhone more than two full OS versions of the OS. For instance, with an XR it came with iOS 12, the latest you would want to use is iOS 14.8.1.

Now, do I always take my own advice? Nah. Do as I say, not do as I do. As a result, I upgraded to iOS 15 with my XS Max. I can feel sluggishness, slower performance, and now I have some new Apple Pay Wallet issues. I reported my issues to Apple and their scripted response is to update to iOS 15.4 which I won't do.
