iPod My iPod is stupid :(

My iPod Touch has had issues for the past few weeks. When I attempt to sync it, iTunes says that it is syncing my ipod, but my iPod just says it is charging. When I was desperately trying to sync it tonight, it decided to no longer list my music and videos. They are still on the hard drive, and the apps are still there too. But now it won't do anything. I am updating to the latest software but not very hopeful...any suggestions?

Have you tried restoring it through itunes? If it's not doing that it might be best to get it replaced... :S
