So the story goes like this. I have an 80 gb Ipod Classic. It has been a real trooper for the last two years. When I bought my macbook (my first mac) recently I went through the process of formatting my ipod from pc to mac. I have now ran into a problem. After while syncing my Ipod will sync untill around 25 gb and then it will just sit there syncing the same song. It's never the same song. I saw someone suggest just leaving it and it will eventually work through the tough spot. I have done this and it just freezes my mac. If I try and eject my Ipod the little spinning color wheel pops up. I've tried resetting my Ipod. I have tried force quitting Itunes. I have restored my Ipod time and time again. I really dig this ipod. Are there any solutions to fix this problem? Help please.

How long have you waited? I'd give it the benefit of at least overnight before deciding that it's a problem.

Bill Gates once said something like: in the case of most Windows 'crashes', most people think 'oh it's crashed' and reset the machine, when if they left it alone to work through whatever it's doing, it would finish.

i am facing exactly the same problem. i have waited for at least an hour. after that, only thing left was to eject the ipod, after which Itunes "hangs" - then I force quit it, then reconnect the Ipod - the Ipod is now blank!!!. So i have to reformat/restore it and then all music gets synced. But only for that session. When I go for the next session in 1 or 2 days, the sync gets stuck on one of the songs endlessly and I have to go through the whole process again!!

Maybe this is something that is already squased in a newer release of iTunes? Do you run the latest iTunes on your Mac?

Hi SXR, I too am using 9.1.1 version of Itunes which is the latest version and the Software Update also confirms this.

I had left the "sync" undisturbed for more than an hour and it was still stuck on the same song. Till today, I have "restored" the IPod 6 times and still the sync process gets stuck at one of the songs (not the same one though).

Hope there is some solution to it. :(

Thanks!

Hi!

I've checked up on the net for you guys and have found a lot of people having this problem....

Just to verify.. you have your itunes library on your internal HDD and not on an external , say USB one?

Lots of people with the same problem that you are having are either suggesting reinstalling iTunes if you haven't done so, or bringing the iPod in for a check-up at your local Apple Store because this seems to be a hardware issue in some circumstances. People got theirs replaced and its working fine now.

Yeah my library is on my internal hard drive. I would go to my local mac store if it weren't 200 miles away (Not an exaggeration).

Hey guys,

I just wanted to say I've been experiencing the exact same problems with my 80 GB 6th Gen. Ipod classic as well. I've been experiencing these problems for at least 6 months probably, so it's really annoying for me. I had a question. Am I still allowed to take in the Ipod to an Apple store if it wasn't originally mine and there isn't a warranty on it? I bought this Ipod from a friend like about 8 months ago. The only problem is I don't know where he got it from and whether it was originally his or not. So, I wanted to know if I was still allowed to go to the Apple store and try to get it fixed if there's no warranty and I don't know who the original owner is.

Thanks.
