If there is a consolidated thread for iWeb pages, I apologize for not being aware of it . . . So here is the website I made with iWeb. For those interested in iWeb, I am a TOTAL rookie with web design/domains/web hosting, etc, so don't let that hold you back. Check out my site:

FYI ~ The videos do take a little time to load, especially the one linked to the "About Us" page.

EDIT:There are 2 "hidden" pages behind the "About Us" page that are about my job, for those interested, or with some time to kill at work. :)
 
100% iWeb, plus a little tweaking after I got familiar with the application. My prior use of Pages definitely helped out, but it is very easy to use. Domain/web hosting through iPower.
 
Nice work. I love the look, you've managed to eliminate iWeb's generic flavour. :cool:

I'm insanely jealous of the site speed too, it rips .Mac to pieces. :(
 
Awesome job!

As for the person who asked above.

You can export your iWeb project as a folder and upload it via FTP to any webserver you have access to.
 
Your site looks fantastic

...but the load times are really slow. If it's even slower posted to .mac, that's really bad.

I love the look you've gotten, and I think small, really nicely designed websites are gems. But unless they load quickly I think many people will be turned off. (Right now I have two sites, one done in Rapid Weaver which loads quick, and one that was custom coded for me that loads -really- quick.

I was thinking of getting iLife 06 for iWeb, but I think I'll stick with Rapid Weaver for now. It's not as slick looking, but it gets the info up on screen quickly.

I think iWeb is perfect for the kind of site you posted - a personal site where you have a "captive" family-based audience who won't click away just because the page loads slowly.

Your boy is beautiful! Have one myself around the same age. I can tell by your site that he certainly has become the center of your universe. Enjoy him!:)
 
Thanks all!! And yes, that (above replies) is exactly how I got the iWeb page to my web-hosting server. At home I use Cyberduck and love it! At work, however (Windows:mad: ) I use the FTP built into Internet Explorer. Maybe the best thing Windows has going . . .
 
when i see people's iWeb sites, i think of a brochure.. i dunno why.. excellent site though! mucho props!
 
The only problem is that, hosted on .mac, it feels like I am in the dial up days all over again.
More people need to tell Apple to stop procrastinating and buy some new servers.

I was curious about what the iweb sites would be like when I saw the demo at Macworld. It does load a little slow, which means iweb maybe doesn't write the cleanest code... But it looks great, and it's a beautiful thing that Apple made an off the shelf ap that allows non code people the abilityto make a great website, well done!

But mine is not on a Mac server. It is on my web host's server. (I use iPower) Or am I missing something?

I have read elsewhere that iWeb does not compress pictures enough, so the file sizes are LARGE, therefore slow to load.

Do you know what your file sizes are for your site?

Yeah, your problem is a different one. iWeb creates insanely large .pngs. I don't think it is the code that is the problem here. I am no expert, so if I am wrong about that somebody correct me here.
They have to make the image size/format smaller but .mac servers just add to that problem.

The main page alone already has almost a megabyte.

My entire site folder is 48.1 MB. Here's a rough breakdown:
Photos on the "About us" page range from 50-150 KB
Photos of the Apple Room range from 50-100 KB
Photos of the Mall of America range from 60-120 KB
Audio files on my job description page are about 5 MB each
Video clips are 1.2MB (Lens cap) 2MB (Star and Baby Pullups) 9MB (MOA) and 11MB (Orbitz) each.
I hope that helps.
