After spending a couple of years reading up on this forum and waiting for my 2002 Gateway to start acting up, I pulled the trigger. My old Gateway flickered twice so that was the excuse I needed to pull the trigger and start up a whole new way of life for me. I ordered a refurbished 24", 2.8 2008 iMac and it came in today in a larger very lite white box and a real small brown box. It was a good deal ($1199.00 comp// $169.00 protection money) and since I am not a power user I know it will serve my needs well, I hope. My current Gateway has a 15" screen and 512 MB of Ram at 1.6 (?) MHZ, so this new to me iMac will be a significant upgrade for me. Twenty four inch screen, man oh man it is going to be nice

Unfortunately my new room for playing around is not quite done so I will not hook it up until tomorrow night, maybe Friday morning. Plus, my new Audioengine A5's are not here yet and I wanted to fire the whole thing off at one time. I will order the extra RAM (don't needed but it is going in anyway) this weekend and start learning how to use this beauty.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for getting me this far along. I normally do not do a lot of writing on forums, but my fingers feel chatty today for some reason. Have a nice day!

Nice call! And welcome! You will love the machine. My new 24" iMac should arrive tomorrow. :D

Welcome aboard! That is a very nice machine indeed! Definitely upgrade RAM to the max 4GB - it's good to have it already available when you need it.
