My new M1 iPad was out for delivery but delivered to the wrong address…Actually to somewhere in another town, about a half hour away from where I live…After I got the delivery notification, I checked outside, nothing…Called UPS and a gentleman looked it up and agreed…there was a problem…lol. He said he would contact dispatch and someone would call me back within an hour. To their credit, a lady called me back to tell me she contacted the driver and he would retrieve the package…But because he was in a totally different town, it would have to be returned to their center, and then sent out again tomorrow…

The ironic thing is, I’m doing a trade in with Apple with my old iPad for this new one. UPS delivered the return box this morning, but lost the new iPad…lol

I’ve never had this kind of problem with UPS in the past. Has anyone dealt with UPS on something like this? I’ll check the tracking number tonight and tomorrow morning to see if it gets updated to show a re-delivery for tomorrow…

It sounds like UPS stepped up and did the right thing, and that you’ll see it delivered tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.

UPS is comprised of humans so mistakes happen...

If you don't get it for some reason I'm sure Apple or your CC will fix it.

Unfortunately sometimes labels get messed up I had something similar happened to me they were supposed to deliver an iPad however the label was not correct the address was correct but there was some error on the label itself they had told me that it had been sent back to Apple however my driver who knows me well pulled up and delivered it so yes it can happen

Their delivery team is comprised of humans, but most of their inside operations are comprised of robots.
I find that hard to believe. I worked at UPS unloading trucks a decade ago. They were trying to automate some sorting, but they have a lot of pieces that are still very far from automation.

Just a quick update on this...I checked the tracking number later in the evening and it's status had changed from delivered to processing for delivery...So apparently, the driver was able to retrieve it. The next morning it was out for delivery again, and this time, it made it to me! Surprised me a little because it showed up around 9:30am as UPS usually delivers in my area, between 1-4pm. Box and the iPad inside were in good shape and I spent last night setting it up.

I think the lesson here for anyone else is, call UPS as soon as possible, if you get something delivered to the wrong address. That way, the driver can turn around and pick it up. I have to give credit to UPS...Sure they screwed up but they were on top of it, once I called. Someone returned my call, within like 20 minutes to inform me, they had contacted the driver and he was on his way to get it back. And they delivered the next day, so all is good...
