Hi All,

I've had a 2006 Mac Pro with ssd drives, 32gb RAM and 1gb Radeon 5770 for a few years now, it's served me well but keep having issues with it mainly down to bodging El Capitan to work and after an update it won't boot.

I'm looking to replace it but don't have a very big budget, I was looking at a Mac Mini (2012) with 8gb RAM and ssd drive for about £300, my question is would this be good enough for photoshop and light 1080p video editing? or would I need to spend the extra and get something like a 13" 2013 MBP?

I would spend the time to fix the Mac Pro instead. Slash and burn, reinstall the OS, and go at it again with the Pro.

You're seriously hurting yourself if you want to buy a "new" Mac as an upgrade now. So either fix the Pro or go for Windows 10 on the same Pro. Either way, you'll be much happier than with a seriously underpowered mini.

Mac mini 2012 will be fine for your needs. 13" MacBook Pro won't be any faster apart from graphics. Actually I'd recommend for £300-400 getting a 21.5 Late 2012 iMac which has quad core CPU and dGPU. For 500-600 you could get a 27 inch iMac.
