On the track
Call apple support and go through some basic troubleshooting.

Whenever I have my MB running on battery I only run it on 1 brightness tick. It helps a lot.

zzz wats the point of having a brighter screen then?

I travel on flights frequently and would love to watch a movie and still have some battery left for some light surfing and emailing

As for calibration of the battery ive already tried it.

I'm having the same problem. According to coconutbattery, I've got 39% battery capacity after 83 loadcycles. I'm lucky to get more than an hour and half of power with Safari, Airport and Mail running. I'm also only running on one bar of brightness.

I've been seriously considering giving Apple a call because this can't be normal. But I'll calibrate it again, even though it hasn't done any good in the past.

This is an interesting development... It's now 10 minutes after my first post, and I've suddenly had over two hours added to my estimated battery life. Coconutbattery says that the charge is up to 88% capacity. That's weird.

Consider yourself lucky.

I would love to get even one hour of battery life with my powerbook. That's with the screen on lowest BTW.

What? I get about 2 hours on full brightness using Firefox on my 12" PB. My MBP gets 3 1/2 hours doing the same.

12'' PB have longer battery life.

Mine's a 15'' 1.5ghz PB, with 1.25GB ram and the high speed 5k HD.

It's almost 3 years old and has been used pretty much every single day.

My PB's about as old, same RAM setup as you, though the HD is slower. Still, that shouldn't account for such a large difference in Battery life.
