Has this happened to anyone else? I'm not sure when it happened but sometime in the last month or two, I noticed that when I am burning data to dvds, I no longer am offered the option of burning at 1x. Now the drop down list only says 2x (more reliable) and 4x (faster). What is going on?

Try burning an older optical disk.

The newer ones are supposed to burn at higher speeds. You lose the slower options, but you should still have several options available.

Yeah,

The speeds available depend on both the drive and the capabilities of the media.

I don't know exactly how it works, but I guess the speeds available are somehow encoded on blank media.

Completely off topic: I just noticed a new emote: :apple: :apple: :apple: :apple: :apple: :apple: :apple: :apple: :apple: :apple:
