My MacBook is on 98% capacity with 29 cycles and have for 14 months. Is this battery capacity is normal?

Quite normal, don't worry about it too much.

Keeping your device plugged in a lot generally leads to good results on cycle count/capacity readings.

Only if you have the optimized battery on or use programs to keep it at around 80%. If you keep it topped off all the time then that leads to degradation of battery.

Well, I guess my factory installed battery is still rapidly degrading after 7 years.

Well yeah but I have it plugged in 90% of the time... :/
Looking at OP's #, it seems like he has it plugged in most of the time too. Otherwise, he's cycle would've been much higher during the 14 mo. Maybe he has it plugged in too much :)

8 months 2 weeks since taking delivery of my MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021, M1 Max) and I'm at 85% capacity with 628 cycles.

2021 MBP M1 Pro 16. I use it almost exclusively on battery. I start charging in the 15% to 20% range, and typically charge it to between 90% and 100%.
