People have been wondering about M3 Pro benchmarks, so here are mine, the 16" 36gb ram with the 12/18 M3 Pro.

By the way, the black is fantastic and really resists fingerprints :)

Awesome , thanks.

Also, did your m3 pro come with Ventura or Sonoma? Or maybe its just the m3 models that are coming with 13.5
latest Sonoma '14.1' also the Amorphous disk bench can be a little higher, or a little lower each time I try, just ran it now (while typing this) and I got 6877/4580, that was my main worry, so again pretty good.

That’s the same model that I ordered and expect delivery today. I’m curious though what does the size of the SSD have to do with the speed of the device? Sorry, I’m sure it is super obvious but fairly new to Mac. Are we saying 1 TB is faster?

Which is interesting for me since I do not come into using a M3 with prior M1 or M2 bias. Thanks for the info!

My M3 Pro also came with Sonoma 14.1
That's good to know. From what it looks like and from pictures ive seen, the m3 chips are coming with 13.5 and the pro Chips are on 14.1.

Hopefully the Max chips (which I went for) also come with 14.1

It all sounds odd because the operating system is stored on the ssd's not the processors

It’s probably timing of device readiness to be shipped out. May be Apple had M3 Laptops loaded and ready to ship well before the Pro chips.

For any Intel holdouts like myself, here are comparisons to the above M3 Pro. I think I'll hold out until M4/M5 Max when the scores are at least 300% more than my i9. ;)

M3 Pro (12/16Cores/36GB/512GBSSD)
Geekbench 6 - SC: 3109 (+114%) / MC: 15591 (+129%)
Geekbench 6 - Metal: 79839 (+169%) / OpenCL: 51587 (+109%)
BlackMagic - Write: 5808.5 (+121%) / Read: 5143.8 (+96%)

2019 15” MBP (8Cores/32GB/4GBVEGA/2TBSSD)
Geekbench 6 - SC: 1447 / MC: 6802
Geekbench 6 - Metal: 29643 / OpenCL: 24575
BlackMagic - Write: 2616.6 / Read: 2618.5

Regarding CPU perf compared to M2 Pro.

from geekbench browser the m2 Pro multicore average results are

10 core: 12107
12 core: 14231

The M3 Pro (from binned result is from another users' post on the forum + unbinned from this post)

11 core: 14239 (https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...cbook-pro-14-base-models-benchmarked.2410158/)

12 core: 15591

Looks like performance is up across both configs by ~14% on the binned model and ~9% on the full version.

that $1999 version is looking like the way to go in terms of value. (edit: for CPU perf at least)

Is your 16-inch M3 Pro still running macOS 14.1 build 23B2073, or is it updated to 23B2077? If it's not updated, I'd like you to dump the operating system for it, since it's not available for download from Apple. DM me for instructions.
