So I order my nice new white MacBook a couple of weeks ago, upgraded to 1GB Ram and 80gb HDD. I was excited when I opened it when it arrived 2 days ago. Then i noticed 2 dead pixels right near the centre of the screen...

Angry isn't the word I am, but similar, can't think of a word! Apple are meant to have such high quality and I can't beleive they let dead pixels slip through the net. Now I am fully aware that dead pixels are something which just happens from time to time, but I've heard too much of it from the new MacBooks. Something is up there.

I've now got to wait another 2 weeks for my MacBook to arrive. It's ridiculous that I have to wait that long when there's probably a perfectly good one sitting in the store not far from me in Birmingham, but I can't have that one because I have to have it shipped from Shanghai, what's that all about!

I've made my feelings clear to Apple and I really hope they take on board everyone's moanings about the delivery times, because they really arn't living up to the expectations we have of them!

they replaced your screen for 2 dead pixels? you should be pleased! i figured they'd be like most other companies with a 6 pixel minimum policy.

Well, I rang them up on the day I received it so I was well within my 14 day grace period. You know, UK law for distance selling. They have to give 14 days where you can refuse the item.

They were quite good to be honest with replacing - no questions at all - well, they know the law I guess! And the fact I mentioned that straight away probably helped along the process!

I'm just so annoyed about having to wait ANOTHER 2 weeks whilst my money is sitting in their bank account...

no, i absolutely understand. but i guess it's better to wait 2 weeks longer for a perfect machine than to be stuck with an imperfect one and your money STILL lost?

Hehe, yes, that's true. And I'm in no *real* need of the machine just yet - I really need it for October when I start back at uni. It's just annoying... I wanted to be setting my MacBook up now, instead I'm waiting for TNT to ring to arrange pickup. :-(

Then seriously stop whining. I know it's hard to wait but getting a new macbook because of 2 dead pixels would be something to celebrate about. Did you pay any fee to get it replaced or did they just tell you you would get a new one immediately?

New one immediately... as I said, thems the laws. Well, they could've just said they'd refund me and then I would have to go on and put a new order in.

Yeh, I know, I am glad to have a replacement with no questions asked, but I am really annoyed about the wait. They're now telling me it's because of "global demand not anticipated". I guess they didn't know how highly people think of them!
