Thank you to everyone on your recommendations last month! I bought my first MacBook and have using it for 3 weeks now and love it! I was worried about the change from PC to Mac, the Mac is so easy to use! This machine is FAST! My husband sits next to me complaining about how long it takes to get on the internet from his laptop, and I am here surfing the net. So far, my husband has talked about getting a MacBook (in black) and a iMac. He will need to choose one!

I was worried about the heat problem, but I have not had that problem at all. I guess because my HP ran so hot, I do not even notice much heat coming from the MacBook.

The only complaints would be the speakers are pretty bad, luckily I do not listen to many things with the Mac. I also found the battery life to be pretty short, but the battery magnet connector is so nice!

Thank you so much! I really love this machine!

Congrats on your new Mac! You'll learn to love all those "little things" that OS X brings to your computer.

Congratulations! Mac owners like to complain about heat, but it's a problem with today's fast laptops in general. SOME other brands feel less hot simply because they are so thick and massive.

Thin and compact also means small speakers! Some cheap external speakers could sound great, or for cheap/good headphones I recommend Sennheiser PX100s.

Congratulations on your MacBook! :)

I've also recently got mine for my birthday and it is cool! Yes, the speakers are pretty quite, but I listen to music on my big speakers in the living room via AirTunes, so its not a huge problem.

Oh, by the way, I dont know why your husband's PC is so slow in the internet, I believe you are using the same connection? Then it doesnt matter if you have a Core2Duo or a 700 mhz Celeron - the 'net speed should be the same

Try turning your screen brightness down when you're on battery. I get 5 hours with no WiFi and the screen brightness down fairly low on the MacBook.

yeah the speakers might not be good enough for listening to tunes but as soon as headphones or external speakers are set up the MB sound is great.
and actually the built-ins are great for when for streaming talk radio, which I do like to do on occasion. the quality of the AM radio stream I get is pretty low to begin with and it actually seems to sound better on the mac

so anyway congrats on your mac, i bet you are wondering how you ever lived without it, as i feel about my new MB:)

Congrats on a great purchase! Lovely machine, isn't it? :p
I also found the battery life to be pretty short...
Someone else already mentioned it, but it really helps to dim the screen settings (F1) if you'd rather the battery life over screen brightness.

Another tip is to turn off Bluetooth as that sucks battery, as well and Airport if you don't need the wifi.

You can toy around with System Preferences> Energy Saver to try to increase your battery life.
