I just D/L coreduo temp and it is saying I am at 82*C...WTF!!! It never used to be this hot...and then about a week ago it just started getting really hot! What do i do??

Over 80 C is getting into the "too hot" category. Call Apple.
Are you keeping your notebook on a hard surface (like a table)? Keeping it on a softer surface (e.g. bed, pillow, your lap) restricts airflow raising internal temperature.

mine rarely eclipses 60C and that's on my lap/bed, when i'm sitting at a desk (like now) i'm running at 37C with Firefox, Adium, Entourage, and Excel open...

FWIW, after you install CoreDuoTemp, both iStat widgets should be able to display the temperature.ScarletRed said:
iStat won't display temps on my MBP and I haven't heard of any other getting it to work. As far as I know CoreDuoTemp is the only option.aristobrat said:

It's possible, although as you say mine is usually in the 50's while crunching away on stuff. Rosetta & heavy apps = 80+
I did also notice during the firmware upgrade when the fan throttled up that the MacBook Pro at least is capable of moving much more air than it usually does. Perhaps some enterprising soul can devise a fan hack for those who run intensive apps and don't want to set their bed/trousers on fire.

Finding CoreDuo Temp to download wasn't the easiest thing to do, but I'm glad I did it - my Macbook is running in the mid- to low-60's with average useage (two or three apps running at the same time). Anyone routinely running the 80's - I would think - should be concerned.

Running an Oracle Install, under parallels, which was close to maxing out the CPU, never brought my MBP past 32C.
I am running the latest firmware, and purchased it about 2 weeks ago.
This is on a wood desk, which helps. When I have it running on my lap, or on my bed, it will get in the 50-60s
