Well after a few attempts at repairs for the yellowing issue (Week 25, Samsung, Glossy), Apple issued me a replacement.

The replacement is a Week 33, LG, Glossy. First of all, I don't *think* the yellow is as pronounced as before. Although there is still a slight difference between the top and bottom of the screen. I believe it may be more related to brightness and the uneven back lighting than anything.

There were a couple of issues with the replacement:

1. The common issue of the MBP lid not closing evenly on both sides. (doesn't really bother me all that much)

2. The tilt of the LG LCD is much smaller than all 4 Samsung SR MBPs I've seen and a CD MBP I have at work by about 15-20 degrees.

For those who have had experience with both LG and Samsung, do you recall if you were able to tilt your Samsung screens farther back?

3. Uneven back lighting. Fairly noticeable when my background is dark (i.e. an image with a black background or a movie watched in widescreen mode) Basically the top left and right corners are darker than other portions of the screen. During normal viewing, the issue is masked by the white taskbar to an extent. Although I can notice the darker corners in contrast to the brighter whites.

As nit picky as it may sound, for those of you who have run into the above issues and bothered to try and get Apple to do something about it, was Apple able to "fix" your problem or did they just brush it off as being "within specs" ?

I'm not sure if the above items bother me enough to try and play the MBP lottery again :p

My first Macbook Pro had a hard drive that vibrated quite badly, so phoned up, they said sorry and sent me a new one no questions asked.

Im terrible for being picky about things but I think that the forum definately makes you more paranoid about problems your Mac may have.

If you just get down to using it and stop thinking about these things after a period of time you forget all about it. Unless its actually an issue that is a complete distraction or means that your Mac cannot operate the way it should then I would give it some time and see how you get on with it.

Enjoy the Mac, they are truly amazing!! :apple:

That shouldn't be caused by a different screen. There must be something different in the casing or else something on your new MBP is blocking it from going all the way back.

I see some backlight bleeding at the bottom but unevenness isn't viewable on the photo, so it's probably very little if anything.

Just to humor myself I'm going to setup an appointment with an Apple genius in regards to the limited tilt again on my new MBP. Not really anything to kick and scream about but it is kind of odd. It does make viewing your laptop while sitting on the can a little more difficult ;)

The only difference I can "feel" with the hinge is that its a lot stiffer, as if its been screwed in tighter.
