It acts almost like its too scratched to read the cd but I have tried a bunch that are in perfect shape. When I insert the dvd it makes some buzzing noise then stops, then does it again and then it ejects the disc, nothing comes up on the screen either. Im fairly new to macs and not very computer savy so I dont really know what to do:confused:

commercial DVD or burned media?

I had this problem several months ago. Turned out to be a faulty drive, so Apple replaced it. The symptoms were identical.

I assume it's still under warranty?
Go get it fixed.

Good chance it's the drive itself that's not working properly.

And just in case you start, Apple does not manufacture Superdrives. Therefore this is not Apple's fault. But of course, if it is still under warranty, they will fix it.

Its not under warrenty it just expired last month... This bites. We have a mac store here in santa rosa(oddly enough thats where I live) so I will take it in tomorrow and see what they say.
