Literally....

I pulled it out of the box last night, set it up and started it.

What an odor from it, but it was brand new so figured its just warming up.

Well its been 24 hours and its been on for 24 hours. I can't hear the CPU fan spin up but I can smell it.

Its not a burning odor, but its a chemical smell. If its sleeping and I wake it you smell it as soon as the fan kicks on.

Anyone else? I remember my previous Mini which I just bought 2 weeks ago smelled a little for the first 10 minutes it was on but not like this.

If its not the overly hot electronics smell (from your description its not) just use it (hopefully not the warranty)

My iMac had that same funky sorta smell. That sorta turns up your nose. I think it has gone away for now, but I am also sick so that doesn't really help. Use it for a few more days, if it doesn't go away then return it.

Hey now! That is hard worked... 3rd world... slave labor perspiration!

Think of it as an added feature you can now smell the person who made your computer, apple is all about making sure you have intimate contact with its product builders!

My mini doesn't smell at all, but I couldn't help but notice that my new Apple keyboard smells exactly like the brand new Apple IIe of my childhood. :)

2009 mini stinks like mold

My 2009 mini model that I just got blows air that smells like wet moldy towels.
It's very mild once you get used to it but when I leave my office and return a few minutes later, the odor bothers me.

What a piss off. Apple should test their products in a home environment because I'm pretty sure you can't smell anything in a monster production facility with very good venting.

I always return electronics that put off strong odor and now I don't know if I should return this mini and keep my old one or hope that the odor will go away.

:(
